Hay fever driving you crazy?

Many hay fever symptoms can be managed naturally.

Hay fever may be mildly irritating for some and completely debilitating for others. When I lived in Queenstown, New Zealand, during spring and summer my practice was filled with patients referred by their doctors. Some people didn’t want to use pharmaceutical drugs on a daily basis and for others, their usual over the counter anti-histamines were no longer helping them stay on top of symptoms. Even patients who had once responded to prescription medical treatment, sometimes found they had reached the end of the medical options on offer.

Fortunately there are other options that can help ease allergy symptoms. Whether your allergies are triggered by pollens or even sensitivities to certain animals, you may be surprised to find there are simple things you can try that make a significant difference.

In this video Suzanne gives some tips that may help you ease the discomfort of hay fever. Suggestions include at-home remedies, essential oils, specific teas, dietary considerations and over the counter products that can all help make the hay fever season a little easier to manage. For a more comprehensive and personalised approach, get in touch with Suzanne to find out what other prescription treatments she can offer and what is likely to be required for your particular situation. She helps people of all ages, including children.

The flambée is just for show but I might experiment with that for fun - one day 🔥😀

Where can I get calcium from if I don’t eat dair Where can I get calcium from if I don’t eat dairy products?

Calcium can be found in many food sources other than dairy, and may in fact be better absorbed in non dairy forms.

Regardless of whether you eat dairy products or not, variety is key when it comes to nutrition in general. A varied diet will help you achieve the broad range of micronutrients required for optimal physiological function. Focusing on one food source for a certain nutrient is generally not ideal.

Conference time in Wellington 🌻Just completed a Conference time in Wellington 🌻Just completed a great couple of days reconnecting with colleagues, sharing knowledge, talking ‘shop’ and feeling the pull towards unity as we step our into a new phase as a regulated health profession in New Zealand. These are exciting times for us and with continuing strong leadership, work and focus it sounds like we all have much to look forward too.

Kudos to our current Acupuncture New Zealand leadership for getting this across the line with our NZ government and to those who came before who laid the foundations. It was great to finally be able to celebrate this win for acupuncture & traditional Chinese medicine in New Zealand 🥂

Bundling up and getting outside regularly to get some sun on your face can help give it little boosts. Vitamin D levels influence hormones, immunity, bone health and more… In addition, getting out into nature brings all sorts of benefits to the body, mind and spirit. Add in some good company and a cosy cafe warm up en route, you have a great all round tonic for every part of your being 🌻
